What do guests think about this lodging establishment?

This accommodation has received mixed reviews from guests. Some guests were disappointed with the hotel's ongoing construction, dusty hallways, and small rooms. They also found communication difficult as the staff didn't speak Spanish and felt that some amenities were overpriced. However, other guests appreciated the hotel's convenient location, cleanliness, and modern bathroom facilities. They found the rooms functional despite their small size. Some guests praised the helpfulness of the staff and the good value for money. On the downside, a few guests mentioned uncomfortable pillows and a lack of Spanish TV channels. Overall, it seems that while some aspects of this accommodation could be improved, others found it to be a satisfactory choice considering its price and location.

Good experience, helpful staff, nice view. Great mid-level hotel. Beds and pillows were a bit too hard.

My opinion about this hotel Best Western Apollo Museum Amsterdam /Been there; got stung
    charles - Aug 19, 2014

We will never reserve a room with Destinia or with Best Western again.
There is a huge scam going on here, putting paying tourists in tiny rooms for big
bucks and saying that we\'re paying for "location" (next to the museum). Check the
poor ratings on Booking.com and other websites. You\'ll discover what I\'m talking about.
Many dissatisfied customers describe their room as a "broom closet." (Good description!)
The good reports are most likely written by employees or friends of employees.
There is NO recourse for a traveler who unknowingly books with this booking site or
with Best Western. Be smart: Go anywhere else.

My opinion about this hotel Best Western Apollo Museum Amsterdam
    charles - Jun 24, 2014

We stayed at this hotel expecting a nice room, clean, good AC, and what we got for $250 a night was a beyond small, dirty, and no AC room. When I went to the desk to ask if they could give me a different room the manager told me that this was actually one of the bigger rooms in that category, which proved to be a bold faced lie. He said he could give me a bigger room for 50 euro more. The next morning I walked down the hall and went into a room that was much bigger, cleaner, and happened to have AC. When I went to the desk they made the change no problem. And when I went to a different desk person the first words out of her mouth after hearing my complaint were, "Can I give you a different room?"
Don\'t stay at this place. There are a lot of nice hotels near the museum.

If you are sincere about wanting to improve your services, Destinia, you should send 2 average people to this hotel to see firsthand what they have for your clients. As were we, you may be shocked.
In a nutshell, for our $200USD/night:
-- a room so small that we COULDN\'T OPEN OUR 2 SUITCASES unless they were on the bed (!!)
-- an unstable glass shower door and a VERY low pressure shower head
-- no beverages -- not even a small refrig. or a bottle of water (water 4 Euros/bottle in the lobby)
--no coffee/tea maker, no lotions -- liquid soap was available in attached containers
    and 2 lovely shower caps
-- a VERY slow draining sink
--bathroom door that bangs into the bed so, if you\'re the one in bed, you can\'t get OUT!! :)
-- dirt in the corners and an old carpet
-- a supervisor who said she\'s advised the desk clerks NOT to put couples in this room MANY times (!!)
-- a desk clerk who volunteers to come to the room to adjust the a/c because it\'s blowing hot air, and, even though there\'s no change, he says "It\'s working now."
-- a desk clerk who says, "Actually, this is one of the larger rooms"
--another desk clerk who says, "This is Europe!" (Please. We lived in Europe 8 yrs.)
--several desk clerks who say, "We know, we know..." about the awful conditions, but
do not offer a better room
--NO SUCCESSFUL CONNECTION with the free Wi-Fi in either room for the 3 nights/days we were there

Initially we were in room 122. My husband finally found a vacant room and asked if we could move into it after our first night. (HE had to FIND it and ASK?????) Hotel said okay. It was slightly larger with a refrig full of soft drinks, water, and alcohol. It was cleaner but not anything great. Better than what we had, though. At least we could open the suitcases.
Later we spoke with the hotel manager who was also very sorry. She couldn\'t, however, refund at least our first night there, she said, because we didn\'t book directly with the hotel, but booked through you, Destinia. Since we were leaving the next day, she sent us a very nice letter telling us that the hotel would provide a ride to the airport for us the next morning.

We appreciate her kind gesture. A cab to the airport, though, hardly matches what we paid for 3 nights and all the time we wasted talking with desk clerks, supervisors, managers, etc. who were "sorry" and knew the conditions of the rooms. An unforgettable vacation, for sure. :) :)
